Hello, sorry for the weird topic title but I searched but didn't find an answer. I read that it is better for your phone/tablet to have apps running in the background (pressing home) rather than exiting every app, unless it's a game. Anyone know if this is true?

If it's an app that you want running in the background to collect data then yes, it may be better to not close it out. It's really up to you and what you expect from it.

Keep in mind that many apps running in the background will affect battery life and performance. The Android OS is great at handling processes and will close out unnecessary apps running in the background; unless the apps are forced to stay open and collect data.

Another reason to leave an app running in the background is that you periodically return to it. (So you save the reloading time.) Unless the app is accessing hardware (like a GPS app or something writing to the screen), the amount of battery that an app sleeping in the background uses is negligible.
