Android error in enterprise intranet

Greetings to all from Colombia,
I come to you to tell you that I have detected a bug in the operating system Android.
The problem is that my company requires constant access to internal web applications from mobile devices, the procedure is to connect to the internal wireless network via WiFi, you enter the URL of the application in the browser such as http://srvshpoint/sites/home, but the Android does not resolve the url and displays the error that the web page is not available, but if you enter the IP address of the server, such http://172.31.0.134/sitios/home allowed to enter.
The tests I have done with smartphones Samsung Galaxy 2 and 3, Samsung Nexus S and other Samsung terminals.
I've searched the internet and forums and I still can?t fix the error, any similar happened?

I know I'm waking up a very old thread but I joined to find an answer to the same problem. I have a WHS2011 server on my LAN with IIS serving a local copy of my web site. If I put either the server name or IP address into IE or Firefox on a PC on the LAN then I see the site but my Android tablet and phone will only work with the IP address. DNS, DHCP and WLAN are supplied by my router.
Anybody got any ideas?
