Not clear if I should enable Location Services or not. I toggle GPS when I want to use maps. When I turn on GPS, does that enable Location Services as well?
What is the advantage/disadvantage to having LS on?

Location Services allows apps that have support for this feature to give you information that supposedly is catered to the area you're currently in. Personally, I figured this'll be a bit of a battery drain and turned it off. Like you, I turn on the GPS when I use Maps or the Stockholm Travelling app, but that's the only time I want anyone or anything to pinpoint my location.

There are threads about this already. it's been determined that keeping gps on doesn't drain your battery. you can see when gps is actually being used because the icon will show up in the top bar. even if gps is on it'll only use it when it's requested. otherwise it's sitting there doing nothing.

edit: I'm pretty sure you can turn locations services off but keep gps on.
