my son was fooling around with it and left it in the following state:ys the following:

Enter: OK Key, Select : Vol Up / Vol Down
reboot system now
apply update from sdcard
wipe data/factory reset
wipe cache partition

Can anyone help me to fix this? or is it just an electronic paperweight now?

I don't think the OP has the ability to select the reboot option. His post looks like a screen dump showing the aftermath of doing something bad in the recovery menu. Unfortunately, I don't have any good suggestions.
