Lot of things that "claim" to work to charge the phone, but I've seen lots of bad reviews that they don't work, looking for someone who can vouch for one that says it works.

This is a common problem with micro USB ports. For the price of a third party charger, you might be able to get it repaired by an independent phone repair shop.

Solder has been degraded by new material standards. More tin and less lead in solder material. That make solder joint connections more brittle. Anyway the UBOC Universal battery charger can charge your battery. eBay has them. One size fits all. Hope that helps! I know it has helped many people with this same problem.

Replacing the microUSB port might be a little bit more than a universal charger (which will work - I use several of them for various sized batteries). It just keeps the phone out of use for the time it takes to charge the battery,

(The port and associated board with most phones is in the $20 area - double that if you have to pay for labor.)
