Picture in gallery is uncropped, opened is cropped

Hi all,
I got an email with a photo attached. I saved the photo to the sd card and when viewing the pictures in the gallery the photo is clearly uncropped. When opening the picture a cropped version appears. Opening the file on my desktop computer shows only the cropped version. Any ideas on how to get the whole thing? I know the information is still there on some level, otherwise it wouldn't appear in the gallery thumbnails.

hard to tell.

the photos have thumbnails and then when you open a file it is no longer the thumbnail you see but the file. another thing a photo could be displaying according to the screen resolution on your desktop.
its possible that zoomiing out a tad will uncrop it. check out these few things and see whats going on.
