Hello Im new here and just got a galaxy s4 which I love. I am now looking for a tablet that I can plug my phone into like a computer so I can manage it. I also have a external hard drive filled with movies that I would like to be able to plug into the tablet and watch movies. What tablets are out there that can provide me with these capabilities?

The only tablet that you might be able to complete those tasks on would be a Microsoft surface

I don't understand the managing part of it. Do you want to manage the various files on the phone? If so, you can easily do this with a file manager app and browse the sdcard from the phone and sort/manage as you need to.

If you want a tablet so you can access certain files on the phone and make edits then you can do this by syncing the files with a cloud service such as Dropbox and access from any device.

There is a way to connect a mass storage device to Android phones but the phone must be rooted. Here is one such app that allows you to connect a mass storage device to a rooted device: https://play.google.com/store/apps/d...wudXNib3RnIl0.

I looked through that apps FAQ page and don't see the GS4 as a compatible device. This means that the list of compatible devices has not been updated or the GS4 can't use the app to connect a storage device. In short, there is no way to connect a hard drive or memory stick to a device without rooting. Your best bet is to get expandable memory and keep that in the device with files you may need or want to access. Yes, it's a hassle to transfer files periodically, but is the only way to have increased storage on the go.

Right but what I want to do is to be able to plug in my external harddrive and watch movies on that harddrive via my tablet.

Ah, Ok. Well, you'll need to be rooted and have a compatible device. Look at the link I provided for further information.
