pretty simple, my computer flips out after i yank the USB out of my tower (says no no don't do that you'll break it), but i'm i've already unmounted so is it necessary to eject your USB slot with android phones

It'll probably be okay as long as it's not transferring anything when you yank it. I usually use safe removal for everything though, having a write-cached external harddrive taught me that one. xD

Are you using an older OS, such as XP? I quit seeing that message after hitting Vista and W7. I just wait for the light to quit lighting.

^ This. To be safe, you really should eject/remove from the PC before unmounting to allow the PC to complete any pending writes. Your Android device has no idea what's going on while the card is mounted.
