Best/Easiest phone info/data transfer?

Android newbie, can you walk me through a phone transfer? I don?t have my new phone yet and won?t have them available at the same time (gotta send one back for a replacement) so I?ll have to store it I guess and would love it to be fool proof.

I do have quite about 5GB of music on my phone (that I use with google music) and the phone numbers, also have google calendar which I?d like to keep my appts.

The rest I won?t be sad if it?s lost.

MyPhoneExplorer makes file transfer to/from your computer pretty easy. (Just go to the "file" section on the left.) You can also transfer your SMS messages. (Your contacts are saved on Google - just put your account into the new phone and it'll sync itself.)
