Considering that both phones run on android 4.2 I didn't expect there to be this many differences and annoying changes. A lot of Samsungs UI is just annoying.
First of all, the keyboard. Is there any way to change microphone key to a comma key like it was on my nexus? And why doesn't it auto correct? How do I turn that on?
Second, factory apps/options. I'm trying to get this phone to run as smooth and as fast as possible. Ive already disabled a lot of the factory and turned off as many of the extra options that I could but theres still a lot of crap running in the background thats hogging up memory. Any suggestions on what can be done and what else can be disabled to keep some of these stupid background systems from running without rooting?
Finally, my web browser is incredibly slow compared to my nexus on both 4G and wifi, anyone have any idea why?
    Thanks

    Welcome to AC!
    First off, Yes big difference.
You can always download the Google keyboard https://play.google.com/store/apps/d...od.latin&hl=en
You can change the autocorrect accuracy in system settings > language and input > click the settings button next to the keyboard you are using
and there is nothing you can do. This is a bulky software phone... RAM hog and storage hog.
This is why I rooted my S4 and put the Google play edition software (Nexus) on the phone. It freed up tons of RAM and storage. Runs SOOO much smoother and better in my opinion.
You can always download a different browser as well. I didnt like the stock samsung one either. AOSP browser is still one of the best (no longer being made)
    firefox https://play.google.com/store/apps/d....firefox&hl=en
    chrome https://play.google.com/store/apps/d...d.chrome&hl=en
    dolphin https://play.google.com/store/apps/d....browser&hl=en
    just to name a few
    Good luck!

I jumped from the GNex to the S4 myself. All I did was change keyboard (I'm a SwiftKey user anyway) and install Nova Launcher.

Some people will make a big deal out of the bloatware, but realistically it doesn't effect your device at all. Remove the bloat, and the Android OS will still fill your memory with other apps. That's just the nature of a Linux OS.

As long as you have ALL the correct drivers, and have ODIN 3.06 installed on you computer.... you can easily root your phone and run GPE ROM for the S4.
It will run exaclty like actual GS4 GPE that you can buy from the google play store.
It runs perfect (unlike some ROMs) because it was built specifically for it using the stock Touchwiz kernel

You will not be able to use some of the samsung "features" like air view and things like that.
But I personally dont care about that stuff. So it was a good decision for me
    I love this phone
