New Samsung Galaxy 4 phone not charging

Hi all
My samsung galaxy 4 phone, when plugged in to the charger, tells me it is charging, the light goes on to assume it is charging, yet it will not charge.
This phone is new, as is the charger and I was curious if anyone else has been having this issue and what I can do about it?

Try a different charger. If the phone starts charging, the cable or wall unit is faulty.

Or give it at least 6 hours of charge before trying to turn it on. If the battery has been sitting for a long time it might be almost fully discharged, so a 1 or 2 hour charge won't do much.
