GS4 keeps opening a link to a play store app?

About every 20 minutes the black box with the loading sign pops up and takes me to a free app of the day site which then redirects me to the same slots app every time. What could be causing this to happen and how do I stop it? Is there a certain app causing it?

Welcome to Android Central! Yes, it is almost certainly due to some app that you installed that was also carrying this kind of adware. If they're popup ads that bring you to the Play Store page, then it can be hard to pinpoint which app is causing it--you'll probably have to uninstall your most recent apps one by one until the behavior stops. If it's an actual notification that appears in the notification shade, then you can long-press it and select App Info to find out which app is responsible.

Does it only happen when you're browsing? It could be a specific website that is causing the popup ad to appear. If you're not using the browser, then I'm not aware of an easy way to determine which app might be causing this behavior.

I've found that it generally happens more often when playing apps that require an online connection and it seems like Sims Freeplay causes it the most but I don't think EA would have these ads. I know security apps aren't reliable but I used an adware one just to check and it showed all the apps that had ads but they all said in-app ads which I'm pretty sure doesn't include this pop up redirect ad. I uninstalled lots of apps but it's still happening.

Did you install Sims from Google Play or Amazon Appstore? And who makes the slots app that you keep getting redirected to? I'd check what other apps the slots app maker also publishes, because if you have any of them installed, that's probably your culprit.

I've downloaded all my apps from the Play Store. The apps are Double Down Casino by DD Interactive and some slots with Popeye on the lower half of the app icon. I don't have any apps from the first one but when I find who makes the Popeye one again I'll check.
