    Hey guys,

Just got a new Moto X (2014) the other day, and so far it's been amazing. However, on Windows Phone, I could see my notifications without unlocking my phone, all I had to do was swipe down from the top of the screen while the phone was locked.

Now I'm well aware my Moto X has "Active Display" but I need something that will help me preview notifications while the phone is locked. I know Android is customizable and all that so I'm hoping you guys can help me get this accomplished. Pretty much if I see a notification on the bar, I don't wanna have to unlock the phone to preview it. Any help will be appreciated.

    Hello akin,

I don't own a MotoX but I've confirmed with my buddies that you CAN swipe down on the notification bar as long as you don't have a secure lockscreen. I know, not MS or Apple-like, but that's the way it is. If you use a secure lockscreen, everything is blocked until you unlock it. Also, they confirmed that some voice actions are available while using a secure lockscreen but not all of them, obviously.

Android 5.0 has an option to view notification content even if the phone is securely locked. The Moto X should be seeing that update soon after the Nexus devices.
