I have a somewhat technologically impaired friend, and I'm fixing his phone. It needs reset, but the lockscreen cannot be passed. How does one do this?

I tried home-volume up-power, and released when the LG logo came up, but it didn't work.

What phone are we talking about exactly? The recovery method differs for some models.

I do not know, and cannot find out. LG something...definitely not a G2+.

Maybe post a picture? We might be able to help figure out which model.
In some models you're required to hold power + volume down, release when the LG logo comes up, and then press and hold again until Recovery kicks in.

Some others are home button + power + volume down.
