Is it Tasker? Never used it. But if there's a stand alone app, or a setting, or whatever. Thanks.

Try AutomateIT, free and not as daunting as tasker but it works for me.

Does your phone not automatically switch to wifi? I'm sure if it doesn't you could use tasker.

I just leave WiFi on all the time, when it's in range of a network it knows it connects.

I do this too. But sometimes I need to have the cell radio off while I'm on wifi at home. Hence AutomateIt. Bascially, I make 3 rules, one to turn airplane mode on when it senses my home wifi, one to turn on wifi in airplane mode, and one to turn off airplane mode when out of range of my home wifi (to switch to cell automatically). The first 2 rules can be combined, but it was problematic when turning on the phone after a reboot. Separating them out made it work the way I wanted it to.

Titetanium, if AutomateIt allows it (Tasker does), you might want to disable USB debugging when you're not connected to your home wifi and re-enable it when you're connected. That way, no one can break into your phone if they "find it" in the street, but you can if something goes wrong.

Paisley, try Smart WiFi Toggler Even with AutomateIt, there's a small learning curve. With Smart WiFi Toggler, it learns, you don't have to. (If you really want to get into doing things with the phone, I'd suggest Tasker if you can spend a few bucks, and have the time to spend learning all the things it can do.)
