    Hi Everyone

A friend has had the below icon appear on there home screen of there LG phone and it cannot be removed? (long click and drag to remove does not work) they did not add it manually and have not installed any software.

Anyone know what this icon is?-android_app.jpg

Does anyone know if its ok or possibly malware.

I would explore whether LG is trying to send you a software update, but NOT by clicking this icon. Go to settings-about phone-system updates and see if there is anything legit they want to update.

While many carrier and manufacturer apps cannot be uninstalled from a phone, you should be able to remove any icon from a home screen even though the actual app remains installed. An icon that cannot be removed from a home screen is suspicious. Have you searched the app drawer for any app that might be related to this icon? If so, can that be removed? I'd recommend you download Avast or Lookout from the Google Play store and do a scan.

I did think the same, and have told her to install AV software, I'll wait untill she gets back to me.

And if that does not work, I'd do a factory reset. This thing is just too weird.
