I have a Galaxy Tab S 4.4.2, and am considering buying a Micro SD card for it to free up space. I can't install any more apps unfortunately, device is full.

Can someone explain to me if I am able to move downloaded apps from the internal memory to the memory card still? I had read and heard this may not be possible, is sort of is possible. I am just confused. I noticed that even though I don't have an SD card installed, there is a button that says move to SD card for most apps, especially my big games like Baldurs Gate that is 2+ GB, it just says I cant do it because I don't have card inserted.

    Thanks.

You can, however, a few caveats.

The 'main' files cannot be moved. Those will reside in your tablet. It's up to each developer to allow moving to SD card and how much can be moved if at all. Some apps allow you to move all external downloads to SD card, which saves up a lot of space, but some other apps will only let you save generated content, like save files and pictures and media to SD card. Some apps will not allow moving to SD Card at all.

This. The better option in my opinion would be to move other media like pictures, music, and videos to the external card and leave apps on the phone. I'd move apps last, if at all. Something else to consider is widgets for apps will no longer work if moved to the external sd card, so you have to be somewhat cautious what you move.

On the flip side, Kit Kat limits moving files around on the external card. If you have a stock file browser, you may be able to move files over, but 3rd party file browsers wouldn't be able to and you'd need to tether to a computer to move things over.
