    That depends on what things. Data from an app - the app has to be written to allow you to choose the storage location. An app itself - some apps can be moved to the SD card - use Application Manager or Link2SD. Be warned - some apps that can be moved won't actually work after they're moved. (The "developer" never tested this, so he didn't prevent the app from being moved.) Pictures, songs, videos? A file manager, like ES File Explorer, MyFiles or Total Commander.

    Unless you're on Kit Kat, then you can't without root, or tether to a computer and use its file explorer to do so. Some phones with a stock OEM file manager can still do this, but not 3rd party apps on KK due to a security change with Android itself. I've seen some references lately that Lollipop allows this again, but I don't have it yet to check first hand.

    Any app can write to a folder it owns on any version of Android. It can't write to a folder on the SD card that it doesn't own since KitKat.
