connecting Galaxy S4, Galaxy S Tab 10.5 or HTC Sensation XL to TV

I'm looking to connect one of these to my TV preferably via HDMI as cheaply & easily as possible. My laptop is nearly broke & unfortunately can't afford another as I'd normally use this. I've read about MHL but don't know the ins & outs. My TV is about 7 years old (it has HD connection ) but don't know about compatibility. The HTC would be best as its kind of unused so could just sit there connected & not need to be used otherwise. Any advice is very much appreciated.

The S4 can mirror with Chromecast, using the Chromecast app (see Chromecast mirroring). Anything that would appear on the phone screen will appear on the TV. The Tab 10 can also, but I don't know about the 10.5. (But if you buy a Chromecast, the app is free, so try it on the tab too.) For the HTC you'd need an MHL-to-HDMI cable, and it may or may not mirror all apps.
