Right now I have an LG G3 and my camera is set to 13mp which puts out a picture at 4160 x 3120. I use Squaredroid to help resize for Instagram but what I'd like is an app that would let me resize a picture by 50% or something else. I have seen a lot of apps that want to crop but I can already do that with the stock media manager.

I know I can set the camera to 3mp but I'd like to keep them big and resize as I go. Any suggestions would be appreciated.

    Thanks

Image shrink. Free version lets you do one pic at a time, paid allows multiple.

Photo Editor seems to work pretty well.

I second Photo Editor. I use it all the time for cropping and resizing. It doesn't seem to have a percentage resize option, but it does have a slider option, presets, and a manual input option. As you can see in the screenshot, it shows the original resolution at the top, the new resolution and MP size top left of the pic, as well as a visual guide of how much larger or smaller the pic will be compared to the original. You can even make a batch function for resizing multiple images at once.

Remember one thing, though. Resizing a picture (in either direction) degrades the quality. Not enough to matter for Instagram, but if you ever need a high-quality picture of a certain size, take it at that size, or back up and take a little more than you want at a larger size, then crop. (Cropping doesn't change the quality.)

Image Shrink makes a compressed copy and saves it to a different folder. Your high quality, large file originals remain intact.

Photo Editor does this as well, and probably most editors do it.

I just found a problem with Image Shrink. I was moving photos to separate folders on the phone to make them easier to find. When I happen to check, months latter, I found that all my photos for 6 months had been shrunk. No originals. I couldn't find an answer to fix this or explain how it happened and finally uninstalled Image Shrink.
