I have an older Sony S tablet and have purchased a new ASUS transformer tablet. How can I transferr my apps (free and paid) and associated data to the new device. I am not an Android expert.

    Thanks,
    Dennis

If you look in: 'Settings > Backup and reset' make sure you have 'Backup my data' and 'Automatic restore' enabled. This will transfer all compatible apps and some system settings.

For the rest, MyBackup Pro works well and doesn't require a PC. Helium is better in that it will save more settings and other data, but still maybe not everything and does require a PC.

Welcome to Android Central! After setting up a new device and logging in with the same Google account, many of your apps may install automatically, but I find this to be a bit variable. You can go to Google Play Store and install any or all of your previously installed apps. Just swipe in from the left, tap My Apps, select All, and pick and choose which apps to install.
