They allow customization. I use Nova Launcher Prime ( Prime costs $$) You can choose how big to have icons, how many rows, set it up how you would like it. 3 screens,4,5 etc.

Yes. You can even keep it and switch between Nova and stock (or as many different launchers you use!) whenever you want.

They save the different configurations, so you don't lose your custom tweaks.

The way to switch launchers can differ from phone to phone. You can try going to settings - Home, that's the simplest way. What's your phone?

Don't worry about having different launchers. One approach could be using your stock launcher for your daily use and switch to Nova just to play around. Once you get confident I'm pretty sure you won't use another launcher.

Ask if you need any help with Nova settings.

A third party launcher like Nova may seem quite scary to use, but it is actually quite safe. You won't mess anything up, as you always have a stock launcher always ready.

Nova can be useful in it's own way. Once your home screens are set up, you can make a backup of it. Then, if you have a need to reset the device, you just need to wait until all you apps are redownloaded, import the backup and you are done.

To echo what Javier said, thank you. We all try to be as nice and friendly as possible, but there are those few, like anyone else in the world, who just aren't. Pay no attention to them.

    Have you downloaded Nova yet?

Nova is probably the most popular, but not the only one. I personally use Next 3D, but have also debated a Star Trek themed launcher. There's themed ones, simple ones, and elaborate ones for whatever your heart desires.
