Surge protectors

Does anyone know anything about surge protectors for a tablet. Mine is an Acer Iconia A1-830. I'm shortly going to be travelling on a train for a few days in Australia and I'll need to charge the device. The authorities have recommended using a surge protector. I know you can get these for domestic appliances but I have no experience with them for tablets. Any advice or suggestions would be welcomed.

Re: Surge protectors

Do the trains have standard outlets like in your house? If so, pretty much any protector would work and just plug your wall charger into it. Some do have USB outlets too, but make sure you check the average rating if you plan to use that. Cheaper/older models may not be strong enough to fully power the tablet and you'd still have to use the wall charger.
