My Sumsung SM-T700 now wants a password, it used to open by finger touch

Have used for two months just finger touch, let battery go flat , now 100% power, but need a password now to open , which I dont have a pass word

Surely you were required to set up an alternative password at the same time as setting up the fingerprint security?
