I have bought a case where the phone is held in by magnets. I guess there is one in the case and in the case the phone sits in when taken out of the case. Having a magnet on the back of the phone continually....will this affect the phone in any way. I have read conflicting reports on this.

Welcome to Android Central! Unless it's an unusually strong magnet, I don't think it will cause any significant problems. If it's really strong, it might potentially interfere with the touchscreen function. And your compass won't function correctly.
