Re: my phone goes dark on a call

Phones are equipped with a proximity sensor that activates during calls when the audio is fed through the ear piece. It detects when the phone is against your head so your cheek isn't pursuing things on the screen. Sometimes the sensor could become defective or there's a software glitch that causes it to think it's s blocked when it isn't.

What Mooncatt said. It would be important to know if this is only happening when you have the phone up against your ear during a call (which is normal) or if it's happening on a call even with it away from your ear (which is abnormal).

If it's blanking with the phone away from your ear, make sure you're not obscuring the sensor with your finger (the sensor is right near the front-facing camera). A dirty screen protector or an ill-fitting case could also obscure it.
