Can I get some help with a XT 1068 dual sim question?

XT 1068 dual sim question

I put a similar question in the 2013 forum, prolly wrong location.
Can anyone confirm what happens to sim slot 2 if I turn the radio off on sim slot 1?
I understand the '1068 is 3G on sim 1 and 2G on sim 2, but can sim slot 2 work with 3G - or at least switch to 3G if sim slot 1 is turned off ? This would be like saying I wish the '1068 wasn't dual-sim active, but I don't need both sims hot all the time, I only need occasional use for retrieving data/browsing on sim 2 (And I don't have great 2G coverage for voice/text in my area, so I almost always have to use sim 1 for 3G voice/text) ).

I have the xt1033 model and maybe it's a bit different in yours. Try this. For the SIM 1 change "preferred network" to 2G, then try to change the SIM 2 to 3G. Most dual phones don't allow the two chips using 3G at the same time, but any of them can use it only if the other one is switched to 2G. That's works in my phone.
