As a linux user I like the ability to tyoe in the commands I want, the iPhone has a neat feature where you pull the screen down and you can execute the command you are looking for. Is there a similar feature with the note 4? I just picked up y phone yesterday and still learning my way around!

Do you mean something similar to Spotlight? The Google search bar can do that and for the Note you can check S finder.

If you want to run Linux, install Shell Terminal Emulator. And if you want a real keyboard to go with it, install Hacker's Keyboard.

I use Terminal Emulator. But be aware that some of the common Linux commands are not included in Android. And of course, Android being a flavor of Linux some commands require root privileges and so a rooted phone.
