Is a phone still an AT&T phone if it's unlocked

I am thinking about rooting my phone, but unsure if it is still an AT&T phone, if it is unlocked.

Re: Is a phone still an AT&T phone if it's unlocked

There's a difference between rooting and unlocking. Rooting gives you super user to the phone to make changes to system files and delete apps that came preinstalled.

When you unlock a phone, you take it from being an AT&T-only phone and making it able to work on other carriers. Unlocking requires a code from your carrier.
