I can find the "camera" pictures but not the photos

That's all they transferred. If you still have access to the old phone, copy the photos to an SD card or computer, then to your new phone. If you don't, and you didn't back them up, they're gone. (If they're important enough that losing them bothers you, they should have been backed up - you can't recover anything from a stolen phone, or one that's been driven over.)
