I got a new Verizon phone and backed up my old one to Verizon Cloud. (I don't think it backed up all I expected but that's another story). Now on the new phone, when I startup Verizon Cloud, it says there is no SIM card. Probably it is detecting not-activated.

I would prefer to get my apps and stuff all settled before I activate. Plus, I don't want to activate until my new otterbox case arrives and I will feel comfortable taking it outside with me.

Am I between a rock and a hard place?

If you're still using the old phone, see Backing up an Android Device. It's a little more involved than a 1-click solution, but you make sure that everything you want backed up gets backed up. And it will restore to an unactivated phone.

Thanks but what I want to restore is already in the Verizon Cloud. I just want to be able to use the app on the new phone.

During setup Google restored everything it knew about as soon as I signed in but I need all the phone numbers that my phone had that Google didn't have, plus more.

I also dumped my entire old phone's folders to my PC, so for the few apps that have local data, hopefully I can just copy those files in the apps' folders. Most apps data is in their own cloud.

I might just have to bite the bullet and activate if I can't come up with something.
