How can I get my headphones working properly?

Headphones not working properly.

I just purchased this phone yesterday, and I seem to be having problems with headphones. I plugged my earbuds in, and I noticed an icon at the top of the screen that shows a picture of headphones. So, I know that the phone is actually picking the earbuds up, at least.

But here's my problem: The sound is playing out of the phone speakers, AND the earbuds! So, what's the point of having headphones if the audio plays out of the earbuds and the speakers at the same time?

(By the way, yes, I have tried a different pair of earbuds and had the same result, so it is definitely a problem with the phone.)

Welcome to AC.

If the problem persists even with the plug pushed in as far as it will go - and there's sometimes a high resistance to that last millimetre or so - then return the device.
