Does my Baseband Version jepordize my changing my Android version

Galaxy S4 SGH-I337. My phone says the Baseband ver. ends in I337UCUFNJ5. I'm currently running Kitkat 4.4.4. Can I upgrade to Lollipop or do I need to change my Baseband ver. to I337UCUFNJ4 first?

Kernel version is 3.4.0 2960651

No I do not know what I'm talking about, which in part is why I am here.

Thank you.

Hello,

The Baseband "identifies" the version of OS. In your case NJ5 (last three digits) designates KitKat. If your phone/device is upgraded to Lollipop, the Baseband will change and reflect a different number. Depending on the carrier, the baseband number can vary. Verizon is currently at OG5. And yes, you can upgrade to Lollipop. Which carrier are you on? I'm surprised it wasn't already pushed to your phone.

Thanks for the reply nahoku. My carrier is Straightalk, -part of tracfone. In all not a bad carrier as long as you dont need tech support -the bells and gates you have to go through make it highly annoying. The phone is from AT&T so I may have to do the push myself. I will root it first and get some of the junk off of it.
Thank you again.
