How do I remove personal contacts that have gone onto my work phone?

How do i remove personal contacts that have gone onto my work phone

Hi, Ive been given an android phone and whilst playing around trying to get used to it I put in my personal gmail account.

Ive now got a work phone full of my personal contacts which I cannot remove.

It seems if I delete the account on the phone that it will completely delete my personal gmail account - is that right??

Ive stopped it syncing but how do I remove it just from the phone please??
