How can I safely delete photos on my device but have them remain accessible on the Cloud?

Safely Deleting Photos on device but remaining accessible on Cloud

My pictures and videos back-up using Google Photos on my Galaxy S5.

But I want to be able to delete them from my device whilst at the same time being able to access them quickly using the Photos app.

Is it possible to delete pictures etc. from my device, keep them in Google Photos and look at them by simply opening the Photos app?

Welcome to Android Central! Yes--open the Photos app, swipe in from the left, and select Device Folders. If you delete a photo here, it will specify that you're deleting only the locally saved copy, not the one in the cloud. If you delete a photo from the main Photos screen, that's where it will warn you that you're deleting it everywhere.
