How can I keep new numbers that aren't in my contact list in my call log?

how can I keep new contactees numbers in my call log

people call me who aren't in my contacts list...after we hang up I can't find their phone number in my call logs to call them back

Welcome to Android Central! Which phone? Does anything show up in your Recent Calls history at all? Do those people have Caller ID blocking, and it's only showing as Unknown Caller?

Hi,

I have the same issue with my HTC M9

before 5.1 when someone called me it would show their caller id when answering, and then save the name and number in the call history. i could then save it as a contact if i wanted,

but after 5.1 it will show the name and number when i get a call. but it will save UNKNOWN and the number in the call history., so now my call history is just full of unknowns, or contacts i already have saved.

i called HTC, android support, and my phone company, all blame each other, but say i cant do anything other then add the contact if i want a name saved.

i think this is a bug, not a security feature like android was trying to tell me.

if anyone has the same issue, or knows a fix it would be greatly appreciated.
