I have an AT&T Galaxy Note4, although I've never put the AT&T SIM card in it. From day one, I used my Cricket Wireless SIM. I just requested an unlock through AT&T's web portal, and got my unlock instructions. It says I should insert a non-AT&T SIM in my phone, turn it on, and enter the unlock code when it asks for one.

Since I already have a non-AT&T SIM card in it, how do I trigger the unlock sequence so I can enter the code?

    Thanks!

You would need a sim not from att or its mvno. Say tmobile sim.

Cricket is AT&T as far as the network it's on. You need a SIM from a different network - like the one you're unlocking the phone to use on. (If you're not going to use the phone on a non-AT&T network, there's no reason to unlock it - the ONLY thing unlocking does is allow the phone to use a SIM from a different network. Save the unlock code somewhere safe - like on a piece of paper you put inside the phone [under the battery is good].)

Thanks, dpham00 and Rukbat (of Pern?). I'll see if I can borrow someone's SIM for this. I want to unlock it because I may be going overseas this year, and I want to get it unlocked now rather than running around at the last minute trying to figure things out.
