I've got an old tablet (Asus TF101) and I mounted it on my wall to use as a calendar. I don't want the screen on all the time, and the power button is getting worn out (can use volume keys to turn on but doesn't work to wake from sleep, no physical home button).

What I'd really like is a camera motion detection app that will turn on the screen (no lock screen is set) when it detects movement so when I walk in front of it it pops on for me automatically, then times out as I have it set in the system settings.

I don't remember if it has a proximity sensor or not. I'll check when I get home but I'd much rather it turn on as I walk up to it as I'm thinking about doing this in another room with a newer tablet if it works well. I can find proximity detection apps just fine if that's my only option.

I've seen plenty of motion detection apps but they're all for recording video and taking pictures. Can anyone help me out?

Thread fell to the bottom of the second page. Hoping I can get a second chance at an answer.

I think you will need a separate motion detector to do that. You would plug your tablet power cord into that. Mount the motion detector near the tablet. This is not a very elegant solution however because of the potential delay in starting the tablet.

    Here's one for $17.00 http://www.amazon.com/SensorPlug-Motion-Activated-Electrical-Outlet/dp/B000A3CIUW/ref=sr_1_17?ie=UTF8&qid=1443023085&sr=8-17&keywords=motion+detector+switches
