i dropped my sony experia mobile phone into the bath, it was only submerged for a few seconds. i was lead to believe that my phone was water proof to a depth of three meters, is this correct? if so why is it i cant get my phone to work anymore.

The problem is that Sony can't guarantee that your phone won't develop little hairline cracks or other defects in the integrity from drops, falls, or everyday wear and tear. A tiny gap may be all it takes for water to get in and wreak havoc.
