Figuring out my cellular network connection

I am using wifi and disable data.

My phone status shows that my mobile network type is somtimes 1xRT and somtimes EVDO but not both, while both voice and data are in service. Mobile network state is disconnected. See

If i correct, 1xRT only provide voice, while EVDO only data.
So how can both voice and data be in service?

Can the phone connect to both 1xRT and EVDO at the same time? If yes, why mobile network type only shows one of them, not both?

Given both mobility network type and service state are both nonempty, why is mobile network state is disconnected but not connected?
