Why does YouTube turn off when the screen is off?

you tube turns off when the screen is off

I like listening to you tube when im walking. The screen has to be on with the video playing if i turn off the screen the audio also stops. I just want the audio with out the video. Also with the screen on in my pocket every touch messes it up. stops it or skips forward. Any ideas.

Sorry this is a flaw of the app. You might look at the PS for either a different app or a capture app. Once captured there are probably more than a few apps that would play back audio only.

I wouldn't call this a flaw, as I'm sure the YouTube app was intentionally programmed this way. I remember finding another app once that had the ability to keep playing in the background and with the screen off, but don't remember the name. You'll have to search the Play store unless someone else has specific app suggestions.
