Why has my phone just died on me?

[AC Question]

my phone just went dead on me.

I was sending a text message, and it just went dead, not a flat battery. I have tried turning it on again, but no luck, I have plugged it it and it wont charge, no lights showing.

Welcome to Android Central! Which phone? I'd try a new or different battery first, in case the battery suddenly failed. If that doesn't help, then it might have been a motherboard failure, in which case you'd need to bring the phone to a repair shop (unless it's still under warranty).
