I have opened all messages. Shut phone down and rebooted. The only thread on this board says to go to some badge thing and it will delete ALL messages. I have messages I DO NOT WANT DELETED with this fix. Is there another way around this problem?

Welcome to Android Central! One way is to clear the data from the homescreen launcher app, but this means you'll have to set up your homescreens again (which usually doesn't take very long). Go to Settings>Apps>All, select the launcher (which depends on the device--it might be called Launcher, Home, Homescreen, TouchWiz, Sense, etc.), then Clear Cache/Clear Data. Now go back to the homescreen and set everything back up. The unread badge icon should be reset.
