Transfering everything

I'd like the transfer everything from my Nexus 4 to my Galaxy S6 but my Nexus 4 screen does not work.
I know you can do this using a USB and a computer but it doesn't seem to be working. Is there a step by step somewhere? So far I can't find one and the images and apps are what i would really like to keep.

What do you mean by wanting to keep the apps? Assuming you installed them from Google Play Store or Amazon Appstore/Underground, you can reinstall them on the new phone if you're logged into the same account. Apps you purchased wouldn't have to be purchased again--you can just install them. Or are you talking about preserving the app data, like saved games?
