Welcome.
It's very unlikely that whoever has it would be able to open it in that way. Think of the number of possible patterns....and after several wrong tries, the phone would then presumably demand the Google account details, or Factory Reset and wipe itself.
You may find that Android Device Manager can help, though it does require the phone to have a data connection.
Also of course, report the incident to your carrier so that they can block the phone, and indeed to the police.
