    I have an older tablet that used to work fine. Now background data won't activate so I can't download or update anything from play store. I have gone through web help and settings says background data is on.

    Welcome to Android Central! It's possible to selectively Restrict Background Data for a specific app. Go to Settings>Data Usage, select the Play Store, and see if it is set to Restrict.
