How can I set up a secondary email?

I'm trying to set up xoom for my cousin,it is asking for a recovery email but she doesn't have and doesn't want one.what do we do now?

Welcome back! Did you do a factory reset, and it's asking you for the email address that the tablet was previously logged in with? Or did you fail the unlock screen too many times?

sorry for taking so long to reply. It has been reset to factory and after setting it up and trying to use the google play store it wants a alternative email address in case of problems but she has no other email and does not one and it won't go any farther unless one is provided, and that is where we are now. is there a way around this?
