    It was suggested by preloaded cleaner app in the phone and the system cache amount to about 200 mb. I am worried it may alter the functionality of the phone or some apps in a bad way.

    Hi, welcome to the forums! Clearing cache will delete only some temporary files and you won't lose any personal information. But you don't need to do it, cache files are there for a good reason. Take a look at this guide for more information.

    thanks for the help
    but it is eating up a lot of space and i thought of just going ahead with it

    Thanks for registering and welcome as a new member! Just remember, in no time the cache files will grow back again. Clearing cache can't be considered as a fix for storage problems. This guide includes very good tips for how to deal with storage problems.
