My iPhone charger will not work unless I bend it. What could the problem be?

My IPhone charger will not work unless I bend it.

I have an IPhone 5c and it gives me no trouble at all. Except the charger I've gone through 4 chargers in 3 months! After a month or maybe even a couple weeks they stop working unless I bend them behind my phone. I've had so much trouble with this problem that currently my cord is wrapped around my phone so it will charge.

I've had this issue before and it ended up being caused by built-up pocket lint in the charging port. I've also recommended it to other friends who were suspicious at first, but it did the trick for them too.

1. Back up your phone to iCloud or your computer, just to be safe.
2. Power down the phone.
3. Get a toothpick and try to dislodge any lint or debris in the charging port.

Important tips: Ideally you should never have to insert anything but a charging cable in the port, but avoid using anything metal like a pin or a knife for something like this, and make sure the phone is always off. You could do some real damage to your phone if you're not extremely careful. But you could also save yourself a lot of time, money and anguish if it's just lint that's causing your phone to stop working.
