why are my emails coming to my phone?

I always had to log into my account now i get emails as they come in and its just draining my battery How can i stop that ?

You may need to turn off syncing. Can't give you any more suggestions as you haven't mentioned what device you have or which app you are using.

The best battery life, unless you get emails every few minutes, is to turn the sync value to 0. That's push. When an email comes to the server it's sent to your phone. Checking every hour, if you only get a few emails a day, wastes battery.

If you don't want that, turn sync off for your email (not Google) account (in Accounts). Then you'll have to manually load new emails every time you run your email app (unless the app has a "load new emails on opening" setting).
